What is a FDD conector on a Motherboard?

It is Floppy Disk Drive(FDD) and it have one pin missing. It mounts the ribbon cable that goes to the 3.5 inch drive which lots of computers don't come near. The ribbon cable has red on one side-This denotes pin #1. The ribbon cable also have slit in it and some twisted wires(in the ribbon) This denotes the fall closest to the twist as the shutting down that goes within the drive and NOT in the Motherboard

Jack
errr....floppy disk drive
It's a rectangular nouns of pins, you connect a ribbon cable between it and a floppy disk drive.
Its a floppy disk drive connector, it looks very similar to an IDE socket, but smaller, its used to connect your floppy drive, however, in our day, who uses floppys?
