What does ONE long, continuous Beep when Starting up tight?

I friend of mine only called to ask what does one long, continous hoot mean when starting the computer up?

The computer make ONE long continuous beep thud as long as the computer is on, and never boots to Windows XP.

This is an HP Athlon XP 3000+ processor with 512 mb.

I assume it may be the memory or the video but I'd like to know for sure past I go over to her house.

What does ONE long, continuous Beep when Starting up tight?

is one of the buttons jammed down (stuck) check the buttons and the mouse
This ability that your computer probably needs contemporary memory.
Continuous Beep No Power, Loose Card, or Short.
Unplug the keyboard and try to start the computer. If the blast still occurs produce sure all internal components and cable are seated properly. The last end in could be RAM.
If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem next to device drivers, hardware or software.

For my computer it means that it is overheating. You may involve to shut it off and put a disciple in front of it, that other works for me

Good Luck
You need to find out what BIOS is on your motherboard. Various BIOS supplies enjoy different beep codes that are specific to them. That one continuous blare may mean one entry on a motherboard but will mean something slightly different on a different one.

Good luck
