Is it easier to use a CD/DVD-RW or a hop drive. Also, is it possible to use floppy disks?

The easiest is mirroring a second hard drive.
Better depends on your wants. It is certainly possible to use floppy disks, but unless you hold very little to put a bet on up it would take huge numbers of them.
CDs are dutiful if you want to retain multiple backups, but the kick drive will be faster to write.
Acronis, backup to another independant drive through a network.
